Beaver is proud to have been the first UK company to stop selling these plants. An invasive alien is a non-native plant which has the ability to take over our waterways, wild areas and generally be problematic if it escapes into the wild.
In conjunction with the Ornamental Aquatic Trade Association (OATA) Beaver is linked to the Be Plant Wise campaign.
This campaign advises not to dispose of unwanted plants into the wild, but to compost/destroy them securely.
This is a list of such plants:-
Crassula helmsii – Australian stonecrop
Hydrocotyle ranunculoides – floating pennywort
Myriophyllum aquaticum – parrots feather
Azolla caroliniana – water floating fern
Ludwigia palustris – water primrose
Further details can be obtained from the Non-Native Species Secretariat or from OATA website.
